Move Makers makes the school journey a fun, shared challenge. Pupils log how they travel each day, earn points and rewards, and contribute towards shared class goals!

Early testing has shown what the challenge can unlock, with car-only journeys falling from 27% to 13% in just six weeks.

This autumn, we’re inviting a select group of schools to join our fully funded pilot, experience Move Makers first-hand and help shape the future of school travel.

Why Move Makers?

Built on over 20 years of experience, Move Makers turns active school travel into a fun, digital team challenge.

  • Keeps motivation high with rewards: points, streaks, bonus points and reward stickers give pupils regular goals and recognition for taking part.

Move Makers FAQs

Move Makers is a new school travel challenge from Living Streets that encourages pupils to travel to school in more active and sustainable ways.  

Pupils log their journeys each day, earn points, and take part in a monthly class challenge with fun, inclusive rewards.  

We are inviting a small number of schools to pilot Move Makers in return for some feedback on the experience. 

Move Makers is being tested with schools to make sure it works well in everyday school settings to inform the final product. 

Your feedback will directly influence how the product develops.

Over 2,000 schools and over 700,000 pupils continue to benefit from WOW - our walk to school challenge. We want to support even more pupils and are trialling the move to a digital-first platform to achieve this. Schools are continuing to take part in WOW while the Move Makers pilot takes place.

Pilot schools will receive a Move Makers resource pack and ongoing coordinator support during the trial.

Just a device with internet access and a modern web browser. The pilot version of Move Makers is optimised for tablets, but also works on laptops, interactive whiteboards and classroom tablets. The display may look slightly different on large screens, but all features work the same.

Pupils select their name from the board, then choose the travel mode they took that day. There are daily celebrations for logging, and monthly celebrations for engagement and active travel.  

Logging in the morning as pupils arrive helps them remember their travel mode and keeps the process brief.  

Teachers can use batch mode and a quick hands-up survey if time is really short.

Pupils collect points for every journey logged, so everyone can contribute to class totals. Higher points are awarded to active travel modes. 

The rewards are class‑based to encourage teamwork, rather than competition between individuals 

The winning class is calculated using total points per pupil (PPP). This ensures fairness for different class sizes.

Yes! Your data is stored securely within a safe and protected system that meets best practice and legal requirements. We only ever share data when we are allowed to do so.

There is a bespoke parent/carer portal for each school, showing points and progress for each class. Schools can generate a parent/carer letter from the dashboard, including a link/QR code to the portal.
