Before the real challenge begins each class starts in Practice Mode. Ask pupils to log their usual journey to create an accurate baseline without influencing pupils’ responses.

Now it’s time to launch Move Makers! Give each class a classroom pack containing launch materials, use the launch presentation to build excitement, and share the parent/carer letter with your school community.
Step 4
At the end of each month, use the scores in Move Makers to award the Strider mascot to the winning class, Gold, Silver and Bronze stickers to the top pupils in each class and the Green Change Maker award to the most improved pupil in each class.

The challenge begins again for the next month, giving every class and pupil a fresh opportunity to earn points, build streaks and win rewards together.

The reward stickers are collectable and awarded to pupils at the end of each month. They're are designed by the pupils themselves and follow a different theme each year.
Move Makers is a new school travel challenge from Living Streets that encourages pupils to travel to school in more active and sustainable ways.
Pupils log their journeys each day, earn points, and take part in a monthly class challenge with fun, inclusive rewards.
We are inviting a small number of schools to pilot Move Makers in return for some feedback on the experience.
What are the benefits of Move Makers?

What does taking part involve for our school?
Pilot schools will need to:
Nominate a Move Makers Champion to coordinate the challenge
Encourage pupils to log their journey to school each day over the summer term – usually as children arrive in the morning
Celebrate the monthly challenge within the school
Share your feedback to help improve the programme.
What technology do we need to run Move Makers?
Just a device with internet access and a modern web browser. The pilot version of Move Makers is optimised for tablets, but also works on laptops, interactive whiteboards and classroom tablets. The display may look slightly different on large screens, but all features work the same.
How does the daily logging work?
Pupils select their name from the board, then choose the travel mode they took that day. There are daily celebrations for logging, and monthly celebrations for engagement and active travel.
Logging in the morning as pupils arrive helps them remember their travel mode and keeps the process brief.
Teachers can use batch mode and a quick hands-up survey if time is really short.
Pupils collect points for every journey logged, so everyone can contribute to class totals. Higher points are awarded to active travel modes.
The rewards are class‑based to encourage teamwork, rather than competition between individuals
The winning class is calculated using total points per pupil (PPP). This ensures fairness for different class sizes.
Is Move Makers and my data safe?
Yes! Your data is stored securely within a safe and protected system that meets best practice and legal requirements. We only ever share data when we are allowed to do so.
How are parents and carers involved?
There is a bespoke parent/carer portal for each school, showing points and progress for each class. Schools can generate a parent/carer letter from the dashboard, including a link/QR code to the portal.

Why is Move Makers being piloted?
Move Makers is being tested with schools to make sure it works well in everyday school settings to inform the final product.
Your feedback will directly influences how the product develops.
Over 2,000 schools and over 700,000 pupils continue to benefit from WOW - our walk to school challenge. We want to support even more pupils and are trialling the move to a digital-first platform to achieve this. Schools are continuing to take part in WOW while the Move Makers pilot takes place.
