RAINBOW WALKS STOKE LOCAL GROUP
Rainbow Walks Stoke Living Streets Group believes that we can create a safe and happy space for walking together by acknowledging that the streets belong to all of us.
Through curated walks that give us a chance to look at Stoke from a rainbow-coloured perspective, our group aims to bring alive the rich LGBTQ+ history of our town. We welcome members of the LGBTQ+ community and allies alike.
WHAT WE'RE DOING
Our priorities include:
- Ensuring that the invisibilised history of the LGBTQ+ community in Stoke is brought to the forefront
- Making walking a secure and joyful experience for everyone regardless of orientation, gender, or any other part of their identity
- Supporting those who join our walks in feeling comfortable bringing their whole selves to the group
- Encouraging inter-generational interactions and learning by creating a safe space for personal and collective history sharing
