NORWICH LOCAL GROUP

Norwich is a wonderful, walkable mediaeval city. Our group wants to make it even better for anyone getting about on foot, in a wheelchair, pushing a buggy or on a mobility scooter. A walkable city benefits everyone: all ages and all abilities.

WHAT WE'RE DOING

Living Streets Norwich will be focusing on issues where we can make a difference, and engaging with the councils and with other user groups to be the voice of the 'person on the pavement'.

As a fairly new group we are still finding our feet and working out our priorities, but they might include:

  • Less pavement clutter- trying to ensure a clear route along footways, and encouraging the siting of EV charging points and Beryl bike and scooter bays on the road;
  • Better crossings- the right crossings in the right places, with shorter wait times at 'beg buttons' and adequate crossing times;
  • Four wheels on the road- an end to obstructive pavement parking that means pedestrians have to venture into the traffic;
  • Amenities that improve our streets- public seating, well designed bus stops and more street trees to offer shade.
