BRADFORD-ON-AVON LOCAL GROUP

Bradford-on-Avon Living Streets is a group run by local volunteers, who want to see better and safer use, understanding and design of pedestrian crossings, e.g. zebra crossings, pelican crossings and so forth.

We carry out 'active-observation' research to help achieve this.

Our objectives are:

  • To ensure the right of all pedestrians to make their urban crossings in peace, security and freedom is guaranteed.
  • To reduce traffic intimidation in urban and residential areas.
WHAT WE'RE DOING

Based in the Bradford-on-Avon area, the Group is concerned with advising on plans for pedestrian transport infrastructure.

Bradford on Avon Living Streets Group exists to promote and develop the rights of pedestrians to cross the roads in safety and simplicity.

It carries out original and authoritative research on the performance of crossings – the white stripe crossings as compared to those ‘informal’ ones from shared space schemes.

It lobbies for increased understanding of white stripe crossings, and for their development into a cheap and stylish key part of modern urban design.
