London Marathon 2027

About the event

The London Marathon takes place on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 April 2027.

The London Marathon is one of the most famous marathons in the world.

The closed-road route will be lined with spectators cheering you on, and will take you through the heart of the capital passing iconic London landmarks, all the way to the finish line in St James Park.

Why run for Living Streets?

Every step you take helps create safer, healthier and more walkable streets for communities across the UK.

By joining our very first London Marathon team, you’ll support work that:

  • £350 – Supports a national campaign, such as introducing 20mph speed limits in residential areas to reduce road fatalities.
  • £500 – Allows us to run a community walkabout to assess how streets could be made safer and healthier.
  • £1,000 – Could fund a series of walks for older people, helping to reduce social isolation and improve mental wellbeing.
  • £2,000 – Help us deliver our Blueprint for the Future of Our Streets research, shaping recommendations that will create safer, more accessible and more enjoyable streets for generations to come.

Every pound you raise helps us campaign for safer streets, support more people to choose walking for everyday journeys, and create healthier communities.

What does it cost to take part?

If you're offered a Team Living Streets charity place, you'll be asked to:

  • Pay a £100 registration fee to secure your place.
  • Commit to raising a minimum of £2,400 in sponsorship.

The registration fee helps cover some of the cost of your London Marathon place, while your fundraising enables us to support you throughout your marathon journey and, most importantly, helps fund Living Streets' work creating safer, healthier and more walkable communities.

Every donation you raise will help us make a lasting difference to streets and public spaces across the UK.

What you’ll receive

By joining Team Living Streets you'll receive:

  • Dedicated fundraising support from our friendly team
  • A Living Streets running vest
  • Official London Marathon training plans
  • Resources and tips to help you smash your fundraising target
  • Encouragement throughout your marathon journey
  • The chance to make a lasting difference through your challenge

This is your moment to be part of something new - and help build momentum behind our mission to achieve a better walking environment and inspire people to walk more.

How applications work

Applications are now open for Living Streets' four London Marathon 2027 charity places.

We have:

  • 3 charity places for Saturday 24 April
  • 1 charity place for Sunday 25 April

If you've ever dreamed of taking on the London Marathon, there's never been a more exciting time to join Team Living Streets.

With demand expected to be exceptionally high, this is your chance to be part of a truly unforgettable event while raising vital funds for Living Streets.

Rather than allocating places on a first-come, first-served basis, we're asking interested runners to complete a short application form.

This helps us learn more about your motivation for taking part, your fundraising plans and why you'd like to support Living Streets.

Because demand is expected to be high, submitting an application does not guarantee a place.

Email [email protected] to request your application form.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Application deadlines

The deadline to apply for a place is Thursday 1 October 2026.

If successful, you will receive a link in an email from London Marathons to complete your official registration by Thursday 18 March 2027. If you do not do this, you will NOT receive your place. If you cannot find your email, please contact [email protected]

How and when will I find out if my application has been successful?

You will receive an email from [email protected] by close of play on Friday 2 October letting you know the outcome of your application.

As we expect demand for our places to be high, all applications will be reviewed using a scoring matrix based on the criteria outlined in the application form. This helps us ensure the process is as fair and consistent as possible for everyone who applies.

Are there differences between the runs over the weekend?

The route is exactly the same, but the start and finish times differ slightly:

On Saturday 24 April the event starts at 9am and you must cross the race finish line by 17:30. This gives a maximum of 7 hours and 45 minutes to complete the run. If you do not think you can complete the 26 miles in this time, please do not apply for a Saturday place.

On Sunday 25 April the event starts at 9.30 you must cross the race finish line by 23.59.

How do I set up my fundraising page?

You can set up your Enthuse fundraising page here: Living Streets (The Pedestrian Association) If you have not used Enthuse before you will need to register. Once in, click on the ‘+Fundraise for us’ pink button in the top right corner.

How do I add offline donations to my online sponsorship page?

If any sponsors donate cash, you can still add this to your Enthuse online fundraising page to go towards your minimum sponsorship target raised. Please read the guide here: Adding offline donations to personal and team fundraising pages | Enthuse Help Centre

What happens if I have to pull out through injury or unforeseen circumstances?

If injury or unforeseen circumstances mean you're unable to take part, please contact us as soon as possible at [email protected]

While charity places cannot be refunded, we'll discuss any options that may be available under the London Marathon organisers' deferral policy. Please note that deferrals are not guaranteed and are subject to the organisers' terms and conditions.

Can I swap, sell or transfer my place?

No. Your London Marathon place is personal to you and cannot be sold, transferred, swapped or used by another runner. Any attempt to do so may result in the place being withdrawn and could affect eligibility for future London Marathon events.

Do I need to meet any health or fitness requirements?

The London Marathon is a challenging endurance event, so it's important that you take part at a level that is appropriate for your fitness and experience. Before taking part, you should ensure you are fit enough to train for and complete a marathon and seek medical advice if you have any concerns about your health.

You are responsible for monitoring your own health and wellbeing throughout your training and on race day. If you become injured, unwell or feel unable to continue safely, you should stop and seek appropriate medical advice or support.

By accepting a Team Living Streets place, you acknowledge that you are taking part at your own risk, are responsible for your own fitness and wellbeing, and will follow all guidance issued by the London Marathon organisers. You must also only take part in the event on the day allocated to your place.
