Do you like walking? Would you like to improve people’s quality of life in the UK? Are you a qualified accountant? Living Streets, the UK charity for everyday walking, is looking for a new Treasurer. We are a dynamic and growing charity, with a proud history dating back to 1929. Our finances are in good shape. Funding is secure for the next three years but we want to diversify our income.


Our current Treasurer is reaching the end of his term next March. So we are looking for a new Treasurer with appropriate financial skills and experience, who is also able to be an effective trustee as part of our Board. We plan a 6 month handover period.


What do we do? With our 80,000 supporters, we campaign for public policies. Our ground breaking projects achieve real change. Our walk to school challenge reaches children in over 3,500 schools. We also provide expert advice to local authorities and businesses to help improve streets and public spaces.


There is growing awareness that walking and walkable places are good for our health, society and economy. We are celebrating two major campaign successes. The London mayor has backed our call to pedestrianise Oxford Street. And the UK government has adopted new targets to increase walking over the next 8 years.


You will be a member of a strong, varied and well qualified Trustee Board. Now is an exciting time to join. You will be involved in setting the new business plan and three year strategy at a time when we are looking to diversify our income.


The Board is keen to widen its diversity and we would welcome applications from people from diverse backgrounds and all parts of the UK.

Candidates who are successful at interview will be given a full induction briefing and the opportunity to observe a meeting of the Board of Trustees. Following this they will be co-opted onto the Board and put forward for election by members of Living Streets at the next Annual General Meeting.
