Living Streets Cymru is part of Car Free Day in Cardiff on Sunday 13 May 2018. Come and join us as we reimagine a future city - designed around people and not vehicles.
Living Streets Cymru is taking over a part of the city that is normally taken up with cars, congestion and exhaust fumes.
Instead there will be space to walk, rest, talk and enjoy the quiet, clean city. Children will share their ideas and design the type of city they want in the future.
We can all reimagine what our city would be like when designed for people not vehicles.
Living Streets Cymru believe that we need to create Walking Cities, which are liveable, walkable, connected and clean. Cardiff is a growing city so we need to make sure that future plans prioritise active travel - reducing congestion and air pollution.
Living Streets Cymru and our 'parklet' will be sited ON NORTH ROAD OPPOSITE THE HILTON HOTEL all day (10am-3pm).
At 2pm we invite you to join our 'meet up' for people interested in getting active to make Cardiff a city fitter for walking. If you're interested in improving the streets in your neighbourhood - this is the session for you.
And at 2.30pm we will be joined by Caro Wild, Cardiff Council Cabinet Member for Strategic Planning & Transport.
We have to change how we use our cities and break the dominance of cars. Car Free Day in Cardiff is chance to try out new ways to get around the city, leave the car at home and see your city from a fresh perspective.
Living Streets has been instrumental in making Car Free Day even bigger and better this year. This special occasion is taking place within National Walking Month, during which people are encouraged to Try20 minutes extra walking every day in May. I want to invite everyone into the city and enjoy Car Free Cardiff!
