Help pupils start to feel the benefits of regular walking by taking part in our month-long walking challenge.

Our challenge packs contain everything needed to introduce primary school classes to a tried and tested way of increasing walking rates.

Three boys walking to school

How it works

  • Pupils record the days they walk to school on the challenge pack wallchart.
  • Those that walk at least once each week are rewarded with a badge at the end of the month.
  • The walking challenge is also supported by weekly classroom activities and lesson plans to help reinforce the importance of walking.

The month-long walking challenge packs are undated, so can be used at any point during the year, and are also a fantastic introduction to WOW – our year-round walk to school challenge, which helps to build healthy habits for a lifetime.

When to run a Month-long walking challenge

Challenge packs are undated, so can be used at any point during the year. We think they are perfect for International Walk to School Month, which takes place every October.

The challenges are also a fantastic introduction to WOW – our year-round walk to school challenge.
