Streets Safe For Walking is a conference hosted by Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety in London on 8 November, with Living Streets a co-sponsor.

Matt our digital and engagement coordinator explains.

Matt Cunningham

All around the world, we are increasingly seeing authorities promote walking for health, environment, transport, sustainability, prosperity and other important objectives.

This conference will provide evidence, from the UK and internationally, of ways to encourage walking and to deliver safe streets and places for pedestrians – to make them feel safe and to reduce casualties.

It will explore transport strategies, land use patterns, urban and street design.

Pedestrian safety is a key objective in its own right and integral to the delivering wider objectives, but achieving it needs understanding and specific actions.
