Westminster Living Streets group campaigns for better streets and public spaces in Westminster.
We meet regularly and actively campaign on a range of issues within central London.
We engage with politicians, journalists, Amenity Societies, residents' groups and others to achieve our aims of more pedestrianisation of major thoroughfares, improved road safety and better air quality.
Despite the attractions of central London we've also got huge challenges. There is too much traffic, not enough pedestrianisation or pavement space and air pollution everywhere. Major issues such as the future of Oxford Street when Crossrail opens need long term planning with the pedestrian at the heart of the solution. The introduction of a 20mph zone is a must if we are ever going to cut worrying collision statistics.
In our first year we have met the Leader, Transport Chair and officers at Westminster City Council.
But there's so much more to do, so please do get in touch to join us.
Just so you know, below you're contacting a local volunteer, not the national charity.
