Massive thank you to every pupil who entered our competition. We received over 115K entries this year!
Our annual badge design competition gives pupils the chance to design the new WOW badges. WOW is our flagship walk to school challenge. Those who walk, wheel, cycle, scoot or park and stride to school earn a WOW badge, with a new one to collect each month across the year.
The judges have now gone through all the entries and the winners have been announced!
THEME
WALK THROUGH TIME
This year’s theme, Walk through time, took us back in time, as we explored millions of years of history on earth. We asked: if you could travel back in time, where would you go and what would you see?
WHAT COULD BE DRAWN?
We encouraged pupils to research a historic period or event and depict it as a WOW badge. They were also asked to state what they have drawn and why they find it interesting.
Examples of designs could have included:
- Dinosaurs or other prehistoric creatures
- Ancient societies, like the Egyptians, Sumerians or Romans
- Important moments that changed the world, such as discoveries and acts of freedom
- Great journeys that told a story, for example the Salt March, the Selma Marches or the race to the South Pole

PRIZES
BECOME A FEATURED BADGE DESIGNER
The 11 winning designs will be turned into more than 300,000 badges - made from 100% repurposed plastic - to be awarded to WOW pupils who walk, wheel, cycle, scoot or Park and Stride.
Prizes up for grabs:
- Up to £500* free WOW resources
- WOW trophies for winners and highly commended runners-up
- Downloadable certificate for your school’s top badge designers
*If your school is funded through a Living Streets project or a Local Authority, prizes will vary. Please see full list of prizes in the T&Cs below.
ADDITIONAL PRIZES
- Prize draw: five lucky schools have been selected at random to receive up to £500* free WOW resources.
- Runners-up trophy: 11 designs have been selected as highly commended and each will receive a runners-up
trophy.
