Artist /Designer wanted to work on street murals with primary schools
Living Streets, the UK charity for everyday walking, is currently working with five schools in the borough of Merton, London. The focus of our work is to improve the walking and cycling environment to encourage active travel to school.
The schools will participate in WOW, Living Streets’ walk to school challenge which reduces congestion and increases walk to school rates.
Three of these schools will continue to work with us on the painting of street-based murals to enhance the streetscape around the school, and caution drivers to reduce their speeds.
This work will take place Spring – Summer 2021 for which we are now recruiting an artist / designer with experience of delivering art projects in the community and working with groups of children.
Please see details below. Application details below.
Design workshops will be undertaken with primary schoolchildren, whilst engagement throughout will involve parent and local residents. This is also part of the artist role, as is promotion and publicity for the project.
Following the completion of the preparation and design work the three community mural paintings will be completed by August 2021.
All school and community based activities will be carried out in accordance with the latest guidance regarding Corona Virus.
