Sawbridgeworth is a town in Hertfordshire. At its heart, Bell Street and Knight Street have numerous timber framed buildings. The River Stort and the railway station are to the east of the town with a nature reserve beyond. The old maltings and joinery are now industrial units and flats.

The town is very attractive, but was not designed for the volume of traffic that it now has to cater for. Local Contact Hazel Mead represents Living Streets in the town.

Latest News from Sawbridgeworth

Hazel Mead is our local Contact for Sawbridgeworth. She decided to become a local Contact after attending the Living Streets Annual Conference in London in 2002.

Hazel is concerned to reduce traffic in the area and to prioritise people in foot. She would be pleased to hear from anyone who would like to help create living streets in Sawbridgeworth. Her priorities are:

  1. To introduce 20mph zones in the Fair Green area.
  2. To increase or implement walking buses
  3. To look for solutions to pavement parking
