Chesterfield is a former mining town in Derbyshire. Famed for its "crooked spire" - a feature of the main church in the town - it has suffered in recent years from policies that have prioritised motor vehicles over pedestrian movement and preserving the heart of the town.

Charles Brown is our local Contact in the town.

Charles will be representing Living Streets at Chesterfield's "Green Day" on 14 September 2004. We hope to spread the word about the Living Streets agenda in the town and get more people involved.

Charles has been much involved in the East Midlands as our East Midlands TAR now puts in a report to GOEM on the APRs published by the local highways authorities at the beginning of August, and our response has to be in by the end of August. "Reading eight APRs on the trot is rather hard going! My job was to comment on the walking aspects of their reports", commented Charles.
