Living Streets in Wandsworth
Wandsworth is a London borough situated in the southwest of the city.
Living Streets undertook a major community street audit in Balham Town Centre during January 2002. The report led to significant changes in the area, including what we believe to be the first double diagonal pedestrian crossing in the UK. We have contacts across the borough.

Latest News from Wandsworth
Following earlier work in Furzedown in the south of the borough, and a growing core of people in recent years with an interest in Living Streets' agenda, a launch meeting of Wandsworth Living Streets group took place on 8 November 2010. The group intends to meet every two months, with campaigning activity and working group meetings in between our bi-monthly meetings.
Our initial campaigning priorities are: to seek a 20mph speed limit as the 'standard' speed limit borough-wide; to improve provision for pedestrians in crossing roads across the borough; and to look at how we can make Wandsworth town centres more 'people-friendly'.
We see as a measure of our success more people - of all ages - walking and cycling. This will entail streetscapes, traffic management schemes, and highway engineering which prioritise people rather than motor vehicles. We welcome offers of help and support from local residents with an interest in promoting safe, attractive and enjoyable streets across the borough of Wandsworth.
