Engaging communities: making places fitter for walking
We work with communities to help local residents reclaim their streets. Together, we identify what can make their areas better and how they can create safe, attractive streets where people want to walk.
In 2008-20011 we worked 12 communities across Scotland to achieve long-lasting impact. Read some of the stories:
- Benarty - Creating safer streets
- Wester Hailes - Conducting a community street review
- Mayfield and Easthouses - Creating a network for walkers
- Ageing Well in Penicuik - Older residents affect improvements
- Denny - School pupils promote new paths
- Dunipace - Greening the streets
- Bilston - Community members develop new skills whilst improving their area
- Howden -Walking to the Green Gym
- Gracemount - Using community street audits to encourage more walking
- Glasgow - Walking groups uniting to affect change
- Fauldhouse - the Footers
- Dundee - Reviving Coldside: Residents describe how they worked together in our short video. See winning entries to our Dundee, Miley Photo Competition.
