Challenge your candidates - May 1 election countdown...
Most people will have found it hard to miss the fact that there are elections for the London Mayor being held on Thursday 1 May. It's a tightly fought contest, which is creating a real buzz that can only be healthy for turnout. But, despite the headlines, it's by no means just about London - elections are being held in 137 English Local Authorities too, as well as all 22 Welsh Unitary Authorities.

Play Strategy: our streets need to be safe for play
Living Streets has welcomed new government proposals to improve our public spaces for children, but now urges a stronger stance to enforce 20mph limits around the UK and improve public spaces for all. Creating new play areas is certainly worthwhile, but misses the real point - children should have the freedom to play in public spaces right across their community, and need action now to make sure our streets are safe places to do that.

Post office closures threaten progress on more walking
Local shops and services are vital to the creation of more walkable neighbourhoods. Without access to shops and services within walking distance, people are more likely to drive to out of town shopping centres. Local centres of life in our communities can then decline as a result.

Vote for Sustrans' Connect2 in the People's £50 Million Giveaway
Living Streets is urging its supporters to help Sustrans win money for a UK wide project, Connect2, which will transform local travel within 79 communities.
