Our one day conference will explore the relationship between health and the built environment and will look at how health can be better considered within land use and transportation planning decisions.
Purpose of the Conference:
• To encourage cross-departmental and cross-sectoral working
• To consider and promote tools and resources for making the public realm more conducive to walking
• To share ideas on how this can be achieved in the current economic climate
• To provide case studies from around the UK
Who should come to this conference?
Highways and Transport Professionals, Urban Designers, Regeneration, Housing, Neighbourhood and Town Centre Managers, Planners, Health Improvement & Access Officers, Architects, Streetscape Managers, Consultants and Developers.

Deirdra Armsby, NICE Programme Development Group & London Borough of Newham Transportation Department: the role of the built environment in increasing physical activity
Jolin Warren, Transform Scotland: the impact of traffic on quality of life
Neil Gellatly, Head of Transportation, Dundee City Council: low cost measures can achieve increased levels of walking
Mahmood Siddiqi, Head of Highways & Traffic: strengthening the links between planning and transportation policy
There will be the opportunity to attend 2 practice based workshops
