Get your community fitter for walking

Living Streets works with local communities to improve local environments and get more people out walking. Focused on enabling communities, our work gives people the skills to improve their surroundings and the opportunity to achieve Living Streets awards.

We're pleased to present the findings of an in depth independent evaluation of our work in communities, conducted by the British Heart Foundation National Centre (BHFNC) at Loughborough University.

Based on the evidence of the report, BHFNC were able to recommend that the project model be expanded to other communities in the UK as an approach to community engagement, increasing social interaction and improving the environment to promote walking.

On the basis of this and positive feedback from partners, Living Streets has developed a package available to commissioners looking to achieve similar outcomes in their area. For more information contact Simon Bromhead on 0191 245 7327, or email simon.bromhead@livingstreets.org.uk.
