VolunteeringOur Volunteers are invaluable to Living Streets and the work we do. Here is a bit about them.Volunteers help our organisation to grow and develop by bringing new skills and ideas into the workplace. Recruiting volunteers increases diversity in the workplace and strengthens links with the local community. The benefits of volunteering for the volunteer are considerable. Volunteers can increase their own skills, meet other like minded volunteers and make a difference by doing something they are really passionate about! Jennifer Anning: Our Walk to School Assistant Volunteer has undertaken evaluation and research for the Walk to School Campaign, the recent campaigns have included Healthy Bones for Living, Walk on Wednesdays and Walk to School is good for the Heart. She has also written articles for the Living Streets website. Recently she attended and helped out at the National Walk to School Workshop which was held at Glaziers Hall on the 23 - 24 February 2006. Yve Macartney: Our Assistant Office Volunteer has been working in the library which has involved creating a library database to catalogue and label all our publications. She said; "Having spent all my working life in the self - centered environment of financial management, it's quite satisfying to work for an organization that tries to improve people's lives. Volunteering gives me the best of both worlds: a chance to do something worthwhile and meet people, but still have the freedom to travel, hike and paint when I want." Kevin Ryan: Our Library Assistant Volunteer has been helping Yve to restructure the library and catalogue all our publications. Elizabeth Wyatt: Our Membership and Information Assistant Volunteer has been doing work dealing with membership queries, issues and policies such as pavement cycling.
